Reason for Joining the Company

A Career Change Driven by the Desire to Expand My Potential

My career began at a refractory brick manufacturer, where I worked in production for 22 years after graduating from high school. Over time, I began to wonder whether I should continue on the same path until retirement and felt a growing desire to broaden my possibilities. After that, I moved to a wood-processing company, but I did not find the type of work I truly wanted to pursue and decided to leave after a year. Looking back, I believe I strongly wanted to acquire a specialized skill. It was around that time that I came across the company's job posting.

Two key factors influenced my decision to join. The first was the company's proximity to my home, which was important for maintaining a balanced lifestyle. The second was the opportunity to engage in welding. I had some welding experience in my previous job and found it fascinating. Wanting to take on welding more seriously and further develop my technical skills ultimately led me to join the company.

Current Responsibilities and Motivation

Supporting Shield Tunneling Through Skilled Welding

The Equipment Department is responsible for assembling the equipment used in shield tunneling. Shield tunneling is a method for excavating tunnels through mountains or underground, using a large shield machine that cuts through rock and soil. To fill the gaps created during excavation and protect the surrounding ground, various auxiliary systems are essential. Our role is to manufacture these behind-the-scenes systems that ensure safe and stable operations.

My main responsibility is welding. Based on design drawings, I weld tanks and pumps into position and assemble components for carts and relay systems. Welding is a craft where your skill level is visible at a glance, so I work with constant focus and precision. Although we do not personally use the equipment we build, we occasionally receive feedback from the field saying, "It was easy to use." Those words bring tremendous motivation to someone like me, who spends most of the day working quietly in the factory.

Team and Workplace Atmosphere

A Team That Learns Together and Supports One Another

The manufacturing division consists of about 14 members, including both full-time and contract employees, with around 10 working on the same floor. Some colleagues have a craftsman-like personality, while others are warm and easygoing, creating a well-balanced environment. Our supervisor may seem stern at first glance, but once you talk to him, you realize he is very approachable, and it is easy to ask questions whenever something is unclear.

One principle I value is "listening to everyone." While I naturally learn from senior colleagues, there are times when I learn from junior members as well. Setting aside hierarchy and openly absorbing ideas that seem valuable is, I believe, the key to personal growth.

The company also offers many opportunities for communication, including golf and bowling events, company trips, and year-end gatherings. These events allow us to interact with colleagues from other branches whom we rarely meet, making them valuable opportunities to strengthen connections across the organization.

MY FUTURE
VISION

Having been with the company for three to four years, I have grown accustomed to the work and environment, but I still consider myself in the process of building experience. Moving forward, I aim to expand my skills beyond welding and develop a broader range of technical capabilities. In particular, I want to focus on pump maintenance. On-site, pump-related troubleshooting and replacement work are frequent, and specialized knowledge and technical proficiency are essential. If I gain that expertise, I believe I will be able to offer customers concrete advice—such as how to operate equipment in a way that extends its lifespan.

My ultimate goal is to become someone everyone can rely on. By valuing not only technical ability but also personal trust, I hope to steadily build my skills and experience, step by step.
