Reason for Joining the Company
In my previous job, I was in a position that required transfers, and for a period of time I had to commute to a workplace nearly an hour away. The burden of that lifestyle led me to consider a career change. While searching for an administrative position close to home, a representative at the public employment office recommended TAC to me, saying, "This is a great company."
Because it perfectly matched what I was looking for—an administrative role at a workplace near my home—I decided to apply without hesitation. During the interview, two senior members of the General Affairs Department spoke with me, and I remember feeling reassured by their warm and cheerful personalities.
To be honest, at that time I didn't have a clear image of the company's business, as the field seemed highly specialized. However, once I joined, I was surprised to learn that TAC handles projects on a much larger scale than I had imagined and is active globally as well.
Current Responsibilities and Motivation
My primary responsibilities include receiving orders for materials and arranging deliveries. When a project site requests the materials they need, I coordinate with logistics companies and other suppliers to ensure everything is delivered properly. When I first joined, I struggled to memorize product names I had never heard before. I learned by asking senior colleagues for guidance and listening carefully to the phone calls they handled at the desk next to mine. Although I sometimes felt anxious, my desire to "become a contributing member as soon as possible" helped me push forward, and I feel that I have grown as a result.
One personal rule I value is to decide what I will work on each day and complete those tasks before leaving the office. In the General Affairs Department, we begin each morning with a briefing where everyone shares their schedule for the day. Although this is not a quota, but rather an opportunity to share information, completing the tasks I set for myself gives me a strong sense of accomplishment and motivates me for the next day.
Team and Workplace Atmosphere
Our department is filled with friendly members, creating an approachable, supportive atmosphere that feels almost like a family. I find it easy to talk with my supervisor even about personal matters, and I often seek advice regarding pregnancy or childcare.
I was also the first employee at TAC to take maternity leave. Since it was the first case in the company, no one initially knew what documents were required or what procedures to follow, and I felt bad for the extra work it caused. Despite this, everyone handled the process with positivity and encouragement. When my colleagues told me, "We'll be looking forward to having you back," I was truly touched. Even after returning to work, I have been able to work shortened hours until 3:00 p.m., and the company has been very understanding when I need to arrive late due to my child's unexpected schedule.
I will soon begin my second maternity leave. After returning to work, I expect that there will be even more to learn as DX initiatives continue to advance, and I feel a renewed sense of responsibility. Even so, I am determined to do my best and continue growing in my role.
I also hope that my experience as the first employee at TAC to take maternity leave will become part of the company's foundation and be recognized by current and future generations of employees. For those considering joining or changing jobs, systems such as maternity leave and shortened working hours are important factors. If my experience can help reassure others that TAC is a workplace where they can continue their career while raising children, I would be very happy.
